Administrative Law

The firm attorneys regularly represent clients before the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings primarily on cases involving state employees but also on alcoholic beverage control matters.  In recent years the firm has represented a substantial number of law enforcement officers on a variety of cases in the Office of Administrative Hearings.  Our attorneys have also handled matters with the Consumer Protection Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice as well as with the Insurance Department, the Secretary of State's Office and the Governor's Office.

Significant Administrative Cases:

 

Campbell v. North Carolina Department of Transportation

Successfully represented former Department of Transportation employee in disability case under State law.  Affirmed by North Carolina Court of Appeals.

 

Campbell v. North Carolina Office of State Personnel

Successfully represented State employee dismissal from position for exercising free speech right under United States Constitution.

 

Royal v. North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety

Successfully represented highway patrolman in dismissed action.  State Appellate Courts affirmed reversal of dismissal.

 

Successfully represented former member of North Carolina House of Representatives before State Board of Elections.

 

Successfully represented former member of North Carolina Council of State in Department of Justice inquiry and State Bar investigation.
